But What About Israel?

Pastor Rick Robledo – June 22, 2025

  A Study in Romans 10

Romans 10:9-10 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

But What About Israel?

  1. Our Hearts desire must be, that the lost be ______________.

Romans 10:1 - Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.

  1. You can be very religious and very ________________.

Romans 10:2a - For I can testify about them (the Jews) that they are zealous for God,

  1. You have zeal but lack _____________________________.

Romans 10:2 - For I can testify about them (the Jews) that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.

Romans 10:3 - Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

Romans 10:4 -  Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Christ is the “end” of the law

so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

“End”  = Greek Word: “Telos”

“Telos”  >> “Tetelestai” – “It is finished”

John 19:30: "When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."

Jesus fulfilled and terminated the requirements of the law

for everyone who believes!

  • Romans 8:4 - the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

  • However, the law still remains for those who are not in Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:5 - Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: The person who does these things will live by them.

Romans 10:8 -   But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith that we proclaim

  1. The words of our mouths, and the meditations of our hearts must __________________.

Romans 9-10 -   If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

To confess (to agree), that Jesus is Lord,

Is to declare that Jesus is God!

  • John 20:28  - Thomas declares ‘My Lord and my God!’”
  • 1 Corinthians 12:3 - “No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by the Holy Spirit”
  • Acts 16:31 -  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your house.

Romans 10-13 - 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

5)  The _________________ must be __________________.

Romans 10:14-15 -  How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Romans 10:19 – I will make you (Israel) envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.

Romans 10:20 - I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.

So What About Israel?

Romans 10:21 But concerning Israel the Lord says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.

God has NOT abandoned Israel! Israel has a future in God’s Plan!

 So stay tuned…
